Dry systems and NFPA & FM rules PDF Print E-mail
NFPA and FM require the C-Factor for steel pipework to be 100 for dry type sprinkler systems instead of 120, which is the normal value for steel pipe; this can easily be achieved in FHC.

Draw the sprinkler system as normal using the standard steel pipework selections available in FHC. Then open the Project Data [Ctrl+P] and look for the line ‘Fluid’. Enter ‘DRY’ into the dropdown box.

This command will instruct FHC to change all the pipes C-Factor to 100 and this is the C-Factor which will be used on the reports.

You may not wish to change all the pipes C-Factors to 100. For instance you may have some trunk main feeding the dry type sprinkler systems. In this case in the Project Data line ‘Fluid’ type ‘DRY #130’. In this case FHC will change all the pipes starting from node 130.
